The fruits and teachings of such men can shed light on the origin of their “visions.” They will typically believe in reincarnation or other false doctrines, contradicting the plain teachings of the Bible.
Most who are able to “view” the future or “remember” things from the past are getting such information from another source. The Bible cites many examples of people turning to “familiar spirits”—demons—instead of looking to God and His Word. Demons and evil spirits have existed far longer than man. They remember the past because they experienced it. They also have a partial understanding of future prophetic events. However, like Satan, they will lie or deceive (Rev. 12:9).
God’s Word is clear that we should NEVER look to these spirits for answers or counseling. God directly warns against them in many places in the Bible (Lev. 19:31; Deut. 18:10-11; Isa. 8:19-20).
