Subscribe NowAccording to England’s Department of Health, at least 12 million adults and 1 million children will be obese by 2010 if trends continue.
The recent Health Survey also warned that around one in five children aged 2 to 15 will be extremely overweight by the end of the decade.
The British health secretary said the government has been taking measures to halt the trend, but “at the end of the day, it’s up to each of us to decide what we eat, what we drink, how much exercise we take and how we bring our children up.”
The Department of Health is pushing forward a plan to give obese patients diet and exercise plans.
