In the Rwandan case, three media executives were convicted of committing and inciting genocide, war crimes and persecution. Such a ruling will set a standard for the new International Criminal Court.
The UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, drafted in 1966 and ratified by 151 nations, including the United States, states, “Any advocacy of national racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence shall be prohibited by law.”
The danger comes when deciding what is “religious hatred.” Some (including members of the Canadian government) have espoused that teaching the biblical truth regarding homosexuality is such, paving the way for the international trying and convicting of those who stand up for the truth.
