“You go to church every week. That means you have been ‘saved’ and received Christ as your personal Savior, right?â€

The Church I attend does emphasize the teachings of Jesus Christ and that one must follow the example He set while on Earth. However, while salvation is a gift, one must qualify by living a life of obedience to God’s Way. Jesus said that the person who “endures to the end, the same shall be saved†(Matt. 24:13). Only after death will we receive salvation. With this verse in mind, merely receiving Christ as a personal Savior does not mean one is “saved.†Instead, a life of obedience and endurance is required to receive salvation.
