Jesus said, “I will build My Church…†There is a single organization that teaches the entire truth of the Bible, and is called to live by “every word of God.†Do you know how to find it? Christ said it would:

  • Teach “all things†He commanded
  • Have called out members set apart by truth
  • Be a “little flockâ€

Teenagers at Greatest Risk for Kidnapping

In mid-May, a 15-year-old girl was abducted in Iowa after hopping off the school bus.

A week later, a man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 17-year-old Ohio girl, taking her to Virginia, and holding her against her will.

One month earlier, three female Canadian teens (one only 15 years old) were charged with human trafficking, forcible confinement, assault, robbery and uttering threats.

These three shocking stories represent only a small sampling of youth abductions. A 2002 report from the National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted, Runaway, and Thrownaway Children (the most recent data available) stated that 58,200 non-family abductions took place in 1999.

The organization found that teenagers were by far the most frequent victims, accounting for 81 percent of these abductions. This equates to 129 adolescents being abducted every day in the United States. While girls were the predominant victims (65 percent), teenaged boys are also at risk, representing 16,500 victims.

Police suggest these important safeguards for teens:

Do not go out alone at night and avoid remote or unknown areas.

Always keep your parents informed as to your whereabouts. If your plans change, inform someone.

When traveling somewhere, pre-plan your route and let others know your estimated arrival time. When you arrive, call home and let your parents know you have arrived safely.

Keep your cellphone close (if you have one), and if you feel uncomfortable, call someone.

Walk with confidence. Predators normally target people who appear nervous.

Never accept rides from strangers and do not pick up hitchhikers.

Finally, listen to your “gut instinctâ€â€”if you do not feel safe, remove yourself from the situation.

Statistics show that abductions occur all over the world and to all types of people. While you have God’s protection, it is important to be aware of what is happening around you. The serious truth is that you can never be too careful.
