“Where were you for eight days?”
Every fall we observe a seven-day-long festival known as the Feast of Tabernacles, along with the Last Great Day, which is the day after the seventh day of the Feast. It is an incredibly joyous occasion in which people gather together all over the world for spiritual growth, food, fellowship and fun. This week-long festival pictures the 1,000-year rule of Jesus Christ and the saints on the earth—when peace, happiness and abundance will break out everywhere! We come together for eight days to look forward to that wonderful time, which is soon to arrive.
God commanded ancient Israel to observe these days (Leviticus 23:39), and this command is still in effect for His Church today. The difference is that today we do not offer animal sacrifices, and we do not dwell in tents. Most churches do not observe the Feast because they are either unaware of it or think it is no longer necessary. But God’s true Church is aware of it and understands that it is commanded to be observed.
