Jesus said, “I will build My Church…” There is a single organization that teaches the entire truth of the Bible, and is called to live by “every word of God.” Do you know how to find it? Christ said it would:

  • Teach “all things” He commanded
  • Have called out members set apart by truth
  • Be a “little flock”

Is making sculptures of humans okay?

I study art at school, and it is one of my favorite subjects, but recently I was planning on making some sculptures of humans. I was wondering whether it is wrong to make a sculpture of a human, even if it isn’t a specific human. Would it be going against God’s commandment not to make carved images?

Regarding sculptures of human beings: It is not wrong to make such sculptures, as long as they are done tastefully (i.e., appropriately clothed, modestly posed, etc.), and as long as they are not made for the purpose of worship.

As far as mythical creatures are concerned, such things are the products of human imagination. If not for the connotation inherent with those images, they would not, in and of themselves, be wrong to draw or otherwise represent. But considering the history behind them (often connected to pagan customs and origins), it would be best not to depict them in any way.
